Anette Norberg, dubbel olympisk mästarinna i curling och regerande världsmästarinna har av organisationen Women´s Sports Foundation nominerats som en av kandidaterna till utmärkelsen ”Sportswoman of the Year”. Vem som får priset avgörs delvis av en omröstning på Internet på länken http://wspr.tc/VoteSOYTeam.
Anette Norberg är den enda svenska idrottskvinnan bland kandidaterna. Anette är nominerad i klassen för lagsporter där hon konkurrerar med följande kandidater:
Luciana Aymar, landhockey, Annika Dries, vattenpolo, Meghan Duggan, ishockey, Juliana Felisberta och Larissa França, beachvolleyboll, Sandra Kiriasis, bobsleigh, Maya Moore, basketboll, Shannon Smith, lacrosse, Stacy Sykora, volleyboll och Abby Wambach, fotboll (soccer).
I klassen individuella sporter är följande stjärnor nominerade:
Miki Ando, konståkning, Kelly Clark, Snowboard, Missy Franklin, simning, Carmelita Jeter, friidrott, Aliya Mustafina, gymnastik, Christine Nesbitt, skridsko, Yani Tseng, golf, Lindsey Vonn, skidor alpint, Mallory Weggemann, Paralympisk simning, Caroline Wozniacki, tennis.
Omröstningen på nätet, http://wspr.tc/VoteSOYTeam, pågår fram t o m 5 september 2011. Pristagarna utses till 50% av inkomna internetröster och till 50% av en speciell priskommitté, utsedd av Women´s Sports Foundation.

Voting has begun and will conclude midnight E.S.T., September 5, 2011. The winners will be determined by a combination of a public vote (50%) and the Women’s Sports Foundation’s Awards Committee’s vote (50%). The winners will be the two athletes – one individual finalist and one team finalist – who receive the highest combined share of a public vote and the Awards Committee vote.

The top three finalists in each of the categories will be notified by September 16, 2011 and invited to attend the Annual Salute to Women in Sports Awards Gala on Wednesday, October 19, 2011, at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City, where the winners will accept their awards.
