Welcome to the city of Jönköping!

It’ s a great honor for the City of Jönköping to be your host City during World Junior Curling Championships 2022.

We look forward to hosting eight days of curling, joy, excitement and intensity at our arena with players from all over world.

Beautifully situated in southern Sweden on the shores of lake Vättern, Jönköping offers a vibrant City pulse, beach life and nature on the doorstep.

The City centre of Jönköping consists of picturesque alleys and canals opening the City up to the three lakes. East of Jönköping, lies the old mill town of Huskvarna where weapons, appliances and vehicles have been manufactured and sold under the world famous brand Husqvarna since the 17th century.

Its industrial heritage has left many cultural treasures to enjoy. Gränna and Visingsö offer enchanting views, manor houses, cobbled roads, bicycle rides, idyllic wooden cabins, castle ruins, paths and oak forests.

Wherever you set foot, you find yourself in the middle of a history book.

We hope you will have a great visit here and that you will be returning soon.
Welcome to Jönköping and to the World Junior Curling Championships 2022.

Tord Sundqvist | Mayor of Jönköping

World Curling Federation President's welcome message

On behalf of the World Curling Federation and our 66 Member Associations, I welcome you to the World Junior Curling Championships 2022.

I’m delighted to see the return of these championships in the 2021–2022 season after last year’s cancellation.

It’s a delight to be back in one of the best curling facilities in the world in beautiful Jönköping, where the Curling World Cup took place in 2019.

The World Junior Curling Championships is often the first time the world’s young and most promising curlers make their debut on the international stage.
This competition will be the beginning of lifelong friendships and for many of the athletes, another vital step in a long and prosperous curling career.

I expect there will be moments out on the ice that will write their names in history and be remembered for many years to come.

May I take this opportunity to thank the local organising committee, the Swedish Curling Association,
sponsors, partners and all of the volunteers for their hard work in hosting this event.

I hope that you enjoy the action on the ice this week and get a chance to enjoy Jönköping.

To the talented young curlers competing in this event, good luck and good curling!

To all the competitors – good luck and good curling!

Kate Caithness CBE
President World Curling Federation

The World Junior Curling Championships are for ten junior women’s and ten junior men’s teams from the World Curling Federation’s Americas, European and Pacific-Asia zones.

The host Association, the top six teams from the final ranking in the previous year’s World Junior Curling Championships and a further three teams from the World Junior-B Curling Championships qualify.

If a host team finished in the top six the previous year, the seventh ranked team would qualify.
